Your Support is Key

I am grateful for the support and friendship I’ve received while serving in public office.  Some of you have been with me since my first campaign for the Palo Alto School Board, and others I’ve come to know through my days on the Palo Alto City Council or over the past eight years on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.

I’m excited about running for my third and final term to represent the communities and residents of the 5th District.  I am proud of the work we’ve accomplished together over the past eight years to ensure County residents have healthcare, top notch public safety services, good schools, social service programs for seniors and children, and reduced traffic congestion.

As you know, I’ve been working very hard for the past year preparing for this official “campaign” phase which will culminate with the June 3, 2008 primary election.

I’m proud to report some exciting early support for my candidacy. You can view my endorsements by selecting the endorsements link on the left side of this page.

I ran for this office because I wanted to work on critical county issues like better health care, public safety, a healthy environment, and economic development.  I have worked with the community and keenly understand the issues at a local level. I will apply that knowledge and experience to the future. Having been termed out of her current spot in the state legislature, my likely opponent considers this office a short term place holder until her next state level position opens.  I know this because she has made clear her intentions to run for the State Senate in 2012.The residents of this district deserve better.

I’m proud of my legislative record. I’m doing the job I was elected to do. I’m grateful for the broad community support I have already received.  But make no mistake, victory will come from an aggressive campaign and your continued support.
